Established in 2011 by actor, director, and screenwriter Bernardo Barreto, Berny Filmes is an independent production company with international arms, created to develop innovative projects that think "outside the box" for cinema, television, and streaming, both in Portuguese and in English.
Among the company's main productions are the drama series "My Days of Rock", which premiered in 2014 on Canal Brasil and was streamed on Globo Play. In 2013, Berny Filmes co-produced the documentary "City of God 10 Years Later," directed by Cavi Borges and Luciano Vidigal. In 2019, Bernardo Barreto's directorial debut, the drama "The Seeker", had its World Premiere at the PÖFF Tallin Black Night Film Festival, taking the Jury Prize. Berny's most recent productions are the drama "The Ballad of a Hustler", shot in New York and directed by Heitor Dhalia, and the horror feature "Epitaph", directed by Bernardo Barreto and Jorge Farjalla. Both films were shot in English and are currently in post-production, with an expected release date of 2023/2024.
